Why did you choose a career in counseling?
After an especially difficult period in my life, I was refreshed, encouraged, and transformed by attending therapy. Walking through this process myself had opened my eyes to the great service and opportunity this field of work has to offer for people who are struggling. I was honored to pursue counseling as a career and become involved in such important work.
What do you like best about counseling?
Counseling can be a rewarding journey for both the client and the counselor. I appreciate that the process of sitting together to evaluate life serves as a benefit to all, no matter your mental health status or walk of life! It provides a platform for reflection, healing, and refinement of one’s character and life, regardless of whether you are especially struggling or don’t consider there to be anything particularly “wrong.” Counseling can be such an enriching tool!
How do you recharge on your day off?
On my days off, I mostly enjoy spending quality time with one or two of my closest family or friends, and getting outside in beautiful weather. I like to spend quiet time delving into quality reading and reflective prayer to refresh and refuel my spirit. Getting in a few laughs over a delicious brunch would be a bonus!
What are your three favorite things?
My most favorite thing of all is being a mother – I absolutely love making my son giggle and watching him grow! As hobbies, I really enjoy photography and home design.
